The Mirror Mask

The 1-minute mental detox

A full day of screens, undone in sixty seconds. No app. No feed. Just a mirror and the world in front of you.

"Didn't expect much, took it into the backyard, and suddenly I'm floating - like a spa moment I made myself. Then it goes back on its stand and basically becomes art on the shelf. Guests can't not ask. It's a whole conversation"

How it works

01

Put it on.

The mask covers your face completely.

02

Raise your phone to record a selfie.

Look at the screen — you’re not there. Just the world where your face should be. Watch yourself disappear into your surroundings.

03

Feel the detox.

Something lifts. The noise clears. One minute, and your head is reset.

See the world in it.

Point your camera at whatever's in front of you and watch it fill the mask. The closest thing to wearing one before it arrives.

Best on your phone. Your camera stays on your device - nothing is recorded or sent.

FAQs

Is this a costume?

No. The Mirror Mask is a work of art - a meditation on reflection, on making technology invisible, and on revealing the forgotten beauty of the world around you.

Can I see through it?

Visibility is limited. Treat it like a prop: film in safe, open spaces with someone nearby. Never wear it near traffic, water or stairs.

What size is it?

35 cm across, one size, with an adjustable strap that fits most adults. Not intended for children.

Does it work in any lighting?

It reflects whatever's around you, so bright, colourful, high-contrast scenes look best. Flat or dark spaces reflect less.
